New Memorial Tree Holiday Ornaments On Sale
Every ornament is handcrafted from the leaf of a Memorial tree now growing in New Jersey. A grove of nearly four hundred trees encompassing the National September 11 Memorial & Museum will provide seclusion from the bustle of the surrounding city. Each tree was specially selected from within a 500 mile radius of the World Trade Center site, with additional trees coming from locations in Pennsylvania and near Washington, DC in order to symbolize the areas impacted on September 11, 2001. All (net) proceeds from the sale of this item are dedicated to the building and sustaining of the Memorial & Museum.
Individual ornaments are hand patinaed bronze and available in either a silver or gold finish at prices ranging from $25 through $35.
Swamp White Oak
In the fall, the lustrous green and white colored leaves of the Swamp White Oak trees, Quercus Bicolor, will change to colors ranging from amber to golden brown, and sometimes pink and will serve as graceful and hopeful symbols of life and longevity.

Sweet Gum
The Sweet Gum trees, Liquidambar styraciflua, will ring the Memorial glade, a clearing within the grove for gatherings and ceremonies. Sweet Gum trees have star-shaped, glossy leaves that turn brilliant colors of red and gold around the time of the 9/11 anniversary. By reminding us of the natural cycle of life, the Memorial trees will convey a spirit of hope and renewal.
